Quartz is a beautiful and popular option when it comes to natural stone countertops. Not only does it give your kitchen an elegant look, it also provides a durable and long-lasting surface that you can enjoy for years to come. Though quartz is strong, it isn’t indestructible. Here are a few things you should never do to your new quartz countertop.
Your quartz countertop requires special care in order to look beautiful and last for years. Water and mild dish soap are usually all you need to use, not common household cleaners. You may also purchase cleanser designed specifically for quartz.
Scrub and scour
A simple sponge or soft wash cloth are all you need to use to clean your countertop. If you have a truly hard-to-clean spill, then soak it in water and slowly wash it away. This will protect your countertop’s seal and surface.
Chop and cut
Quartz, like other natural stones, provides a strong and durable surface. It can be tempting to cut food directly on it because it seems indestructible. Avoid the temptation and always use a cutting board.
Watch the heat
It’s true, quartz is heat-resistant. This doesn’t mean, however, that you should place hot pots and pans directly on its surface. Always use trivets to protect your countertop from heat.
When properly taken care of, quartz will provide you with a beautiful countertop that lasts for years and years. If you’re curious about how to care for your countertop, or want to find out how you can upgrade to natural stone, then call us at (417) 581-8775.
