Discovery Center is an ideal destination because it truly offers something for everyone--families, school groups, adults, and of course children. We provide a playground of hands-on, interactive exhibits that elicit a surprising, delightful, and inspiring educational experience that makes learning science, technology, engineering, and math more accessible and relevant to everyday life.
Long respected as the leader in the region for unique and engaging educational experiences, Discovery Center has more than 200 interactive, hands-on exhibits in more than 50,000 square feet of space, including: Wonderland, Exploratory Lab, ChromoZone Lab, and the Prater Family WorldWise Gallery. Discovery Center also offers approximately 40 educational programs on various topics of science from geology to chemistry, physics to health and life sciences, culture to nanotechnology, and much more that target birth to 90+ years of age.
Discovery Center is the only educational resource center of its kind serving the schools and families of this region. Similarly, it is also the only youth activity center in Southern Missouri that offers and utilizes such a wide range of exhibits, hands-on activities, special events, and programs that explore a broad spectrum of educational goals

Who said a princess can’t be smart and beautiful? Put on your best princess costume and join us for princess meet-and-greets, singing performances, story times, and special science activities with our friends from Princesses of the 417. Plus, stick around and explore over 300 hands-on exhibits at the Discovery Center. All Lab Coats & Tiaras activities are free with general admission.

Join us at the Discovery Center for an America Recycles Day celebration and reduced admission when you bring a bag of clothes to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Think Big Foundation! For every bag of clothing you bring to donate, we’ll give you a reduced admission of $5 for a day of play! Learn about ways to be more environmentally friendly and test your eco-knowledge at our hands-on learning stations. All activities are free with the cost of admission.
