Sun Protection 101

What would summer be without some fun in the sun? If you’re planning a day at the lake, a hiking adventure or just some hammock time, you’ll need to take steps to keep yourself sunburn free. Here are a few to get you started:

SPF counts

If you intend on being outside for an extended amount of time, you should use a broad spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 more greater.

Timing counts

Put sunscreen on between 15 and 20 minutes before you go outside. Reapply it every two hours, or after you go swimming.

Amount counts

You have to use enough sunscreen for it to be effective, which tends to be about one ounce every time you apply it. Read and follow the directions on your sunscreen.

As you can see, it’s simply to stay sun-safe this summer. Now you can relax and enjoy your sun fun without getting sidelined by a sunburn!
