When you pack up your house before moving, you often find that you no longer need certain items anymore. Throwing the items out is an option, but perhaps the items are still in good condition. Throwing them out would be a waste. Why not have a yard sale? Here are some tips you should check out before having your summer yard sale:
● Do not overprice your items. The goal is not only to make some extra money, but to get rid of the items. If you price your belongings too high, then you will still be stuck with these things you no longer want or need. Price them reasonably so you can get rid of them and get some more money before Moving Day.
● Have the sale last for a weekend, and no longer. Of course, the longer you have the sale, then the higher your chances of getting rid of your old belongings. However you still need to make time for packing and cleaning out your home before your move. If you spend too much time on your yard sale, then you could fall behind on everything else you need to do. Slotting your yard sale for one weekend is often the optimal length of time.
● Recruit friends and family for help. Yard sales can be a big burden when you do the work all on your own. You are already stressed from moving, so you do not need the added strain! Asking your friends and family to help you out can ease much of that pressure. As an incentive, let them contribute to the yard sale and offer them their share of the profits. Supplying them with food and drinks is another way to convince them to help you out during this stressful time!
